Fly the Unfriendly Skies

Several months ago I was contemplating another trip to London. I checked ticket prices and then searched the web for venues and when they were open to the public. A week later I returned to the airline web site to book. In that week the price had gone up a thousand dollars. So the trip was put on hold. OPEC had held a meeting during that week and decided to cut oil production. The airline had immediately responded by jacking prices. Now we find that OPEC was unsuccessful in its bid to raise the worldwide price of petroleum as we see gasoline pump prices declining this summer, but the cost to fly has not come down because it’s the vacation season and there’s no longer sufficient competition to bring down prices
