McAllen Memorial cheerleaders win national title

McALLEN – The McAllen Memorial High cheerleaders are national champions. They brought home the title after competing in the National High School Cheerleading Championships (NHSCC) Feb. 9 at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida. Memorial won in the Game Day Varsity Non-Tumbling Division. The event was televised nationwide on ESPN and ESPN2 to more than 100 million homes and 32 countries. The 2013-14 Memorial cheerleaders include Isabella Boghs, Maria Cortinas, Anelly De La Paz, Betzey De La Paz, Carolina Elizondo, Karina Garza, Kassandra Gonzalez, Maida Guajardo, Jenna Hanvey, Ashley Hernandez, Susana Hernandez, Victoria Hinojosa, Haley Marriott, Isamary Mendoza, Katia Pacheco, Alyssa Pascual, Marissa Rincon, Mikayla Rincon, Annalee Romeros, Taylor Stutz, Alejandra Torres and Joelle Villarreal. The team coaches are Pedro Ramirez and Oscar Ortiz.
