RIP, Joel Gonzalez

Adios, amigo

Well, sad to say, the miracle I wrote about in this column last week failed to produce the results I was praying for: my friend, Joel “Joey” Gonzalez, never recovered from the sudden illness that caused his death at the relatively young age of 51. He was such a great guy; and his death represents such a sad loss to his close family members and to those who were fortunate enough to count him as a friend.
The hard part about a person dying is the realization that you will never hear their voice again, never laugh with them again, or see them again. The loss is permanent, and that realization is a hard thing to digest and accept.
