SANTIAGA SANCHEZ LUNA

SAN JUAN – Santiaga Sanchez Luna, 88, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 13, 2017, at McAllen Heart Hospital. Santiaga was born May 1, 1928 in San Juan and lived there all of her life. She was a devoted loving mother and a wonderful grandmother. She will always be a constant and a source of strength to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hector Luna; a daughter, Norma Herrera; a grandson, Hector Herrera; a great-granddaughter, Krystal Herrera; her father, Lucio Sanchez; her mother, Isabel Puente; two brothers, Ysabel Sanchez and Hilario Sanchez. Santiaga is survived by two daughters, Lucila Herrera and Linda (Rocky) Flores; a son, Alberto Luna, all of San Juan; nine grandchildren, Heliberto Herrera, Yvonne Herrera Hinojosa, Randy Herrera, Yvette Herrera Galindo, Ruben Herrera, Celeste Flores Goodwin, Iris Flores Villarreal, Hector Luna, Albert Luna Jr.; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Maria Pruneda of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Tri City Dialysis Center in Alamo for caring for mom during the past nine and a half years. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
