PHARR – Mina Delgado, 84, died Thursday, September 8, 2016, at her residence in Pharr. Born in Peñitas, she had lived in Pharr since 1967 and was formerly of Alamo. She is preceded in death by three children, Juan Angel Delgado, Maria O. Rodriguez, Jesus Delgado; her parents, Severo Vargas and Adelaida Alvarado; two sisters, Candida Ramirez, Rosa Escobedo; and a brother, Ramon Vargas. Mina is survived by five children, Maria (†Jose) Villanueva, Jose Alfredo Delgado Sr., both of Pharr, Ricardo (Molly Omara) Delgado of Bristol, New Hampshire, Maria G. (Julian) Escamilla of Holland, Michigan, Ramon (Florinda) Delgado Sr. of Donna; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jose Vargas of Alamo, and Roberto Vargas of Pharr. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, Sept. 9, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
