ELIAS MUNOZ
SAN JUAN – Elias Muñoz, 77, died Tues., November 22, 2016, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Born in Escobares, TX, Mr. Muñoz had lived in San Juan all of his life, and was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was employed by PSJA ISD Food Service Dept. for 20 years. Elias was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was always happy and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Muñoz; and his parents, Secundino and Dominga Muñoz. Elias is survived by three children, Annette (Rene) Borrego of Edinburg, Cynthia (Rudy) Bernal of San Juan, Elias Daniel (Maritza) Muñoz of McAllen; six grandchildren, Zelyna and Katryna Borrego, Samantha, Linda, Rudy Bernal, David Muñoz; a brother-in-law, Joel Rodriguez; and a sister-in-law, Alicia Rodriguez. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday, November 25, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 12 noon Saturday, November 26, at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military honors were conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa. Pallbearers were Rene Borrego, Rudy Bernal, Daniel Muñoz, David Muñoz, Joel Rodriguez, Johnny Barbosa, Roberto Navarro, Raul Martinez. Honorary pallbearers, Roberto Navarro and Raul Martinez. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center and Pastor Sylvia De La Garza for her continued prayers. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
