Advising the President

I got to thinking this week about the attacks on the president and what he might do to counter them. Was there anything his advisors might not be suggesting? If I were his advisor, what would I be telling him?

I’d probably start by saying that politics is a modified form of war, war is inherently dangerous, and defensive wars are almost always a lost cause. Look at what happened during World War II when the Germans simply went around the French Army’s border fortifications I’d add that ruthlessness and deception are always a part of warfare. The Allies supplied the Germans with false information to hide the location of the Normandy landings. The American Army gave a press briefing prior to the invasion of Iraq and left an inconspicuous map on the wall showing the incorrect locations of US forces (which the Iraq leadership saw and used to position their defenses).
