JOHN C. ETHERIDGE
PHARR – John C. Etheridge, 71, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Solara Hospital in McAllen. John was born in Dallas on December 23, 1945 to Charles and Martha Etheridge. He taught at PSJA until he retired in 2008. Prior to that, he taught at Hidalgo ISD for two years. He had also worked in Philadelphia, PA at Teen Challenge as a counselor, as well as in Arnold, MO and on the Navajo Reservation. In addition to this, John taught summer courses in Northern Asia and Micronesia for 10 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Etheridge; and two brothers, James and Aaron Etheridge. John is survived by his wife, Karen Joy Etheridge of Pharr; six brothers, Paul (Beth) Etheridge of Branson, MO, Peter (Connie) Etheridge of Manns Harbor, NC, Steven (Carol) Etheridge of Hatteras, NC, David (Wendy) Etheridge of Bolivia, NC, Philip (SharOn) Etheridge of Wanchese, NC, Samuel Etheridge of Salem, OR; three sisters, Trudy (Jack) Vegter of Petoskey, MI, Charlese Etheridge of Palmer, AK, Wilda Etheridge of Lakeland, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Templo Bethel Asamblea De Dios, 400 S. Veterans Blvd. in Pharr. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Templo Bethel Asamblea De Dios. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
