SALVADOR HERNANDEZ

MERCEDES – Salvador Hernandez, 87, died Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Solara Hospital in Harlingen. Born in Guanajuato, Mexico, Mr. Hernandez had lived in Mercedes all of his life. He is preceded in death by three children, Ninfa Gonzalez, Jose De Jesus Hernandez, Margarita Hernandez; a grandson, Joel Gonzalez; and a great-grandson, Aydan. Salvador is survived by his wife, Maria De Jesus Hernandez; 10 children, San Juanita (Joe) Trevino, Alicia (Ramiro) Garza, Francisco (Leticia) Hernandez, Maria De Jesus Hernandez, Guadalupe (Steve) Brewer, Salvador (Gracie) Hernandez, Juana Maria (Ronnie) Cavazos, Silvia Hernandez, Martin (Nora) Hernandez, Antonio (Tila) Hernandez; son-in-law, Robert Gonzalez; 28 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends took place from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
