Weslaco ISD employees can’t use Weslaco hospital?

WESLACO -- This is one crazy hospital story. In Weslaco, the school district is the city’s largest employer. And yet, the new health insurance plan in place this year for school employees doesn’t list the city’s hospital, Knapp Medical Center, as one of its Tier 1 providers. Instead, its Tier 1 providers are Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and Valley Baptist. Sure, school employees and any family members they may have on their health insurance policy are free to go to Knapp if that’s what suits them. But it’s going to cost them more out-of-pocket to do so.
