SAN JUAN-Teofilo Trevino, Jr., 85, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 16, at 1: 15. We had the very sad task of saying goodbye to our beloved father for the last time as we held his hand and watched him take his last breath. Our hearts are filled with so much pain from the knowledge that we will never speak to him again. However it gives us great comfort to know that he will be reuniting with his beautiful bride of 60 years in a place where suffering no longer exists. Mr. Trevino was born and raised in San Juan and had served as a former Commissioner of San Juan. He was also a member of the Lions Club, and a Navy Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Z. “Nena” Trevino; parents, Teofilo and Aeropaja Trevino; three brothers , Ciro Trevino, Sgt., Leonel Trevino, and Agustin Trevino. Mr. Trevino is survived by five children, Veronica (Jose) Gutierrez, Sandra (Eddie) Mirza, Mark (Sylvia) Trevino, Eric (Lily) Trevino, all of McAllen, George (Lucy) Trevino, of Brownsville; three sisters, Alicia (+Rey) Vasquez, of Dallas, TX., Elodia Trevino, of Pharr, and Aeropaja (+Gilbert) Flores, of San Juan; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Feb. 18, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military Honors were conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
