I think it’s highly doubtful that all of the local candidates named on the November 8th ballot are up-to-date paying their property taxes, but we shall see.
This week, here at The Advance, we’re going to get online and go through the county’s tax office (website), pull up the names of the candidates, and see who’s current with regard to their respective tax payments and who isn’t. The property taxes will not only include their respective homesteads but any other property they may own.
The names will not only include those running for local offices but for state offices as well.
Local city races up for grabs include: Edcouch, Weslaco, and Palmview.
School districts include: Donna, Edcouch-Else, Edinburg, Hidalgo, La Joya, La Villa, Mercedes, Monte Alto, PSJA, Valley View, and Weslaco.
State races include Senate District 20 and House District 41.
Obviously, if one is running for elected office, the least the public can ask for is that the candidate pay their taxes on
