SAN JUAN - Adolfo S. Alvarado, 76, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. Born in Detroit, MI, he had lived in San Juan most of his life. He was an All State Clarinet player by the age of thirteen. Mr. Alvarado graduated in 1975 from TSTI College in Harlingen, TX, where he later became an Executive chef at the International Culinary School in Washington, DC. Mr. Alvarado is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Juanita Alvarado; two brothers, Jose Alvarado, Jr. and Ricardo Alvarado; a sister, Argentina Gonzalez. Adolfo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ninfa P. Alvarado of San Juan; five siblings, Rodolfo Alvarado of San Juan, Pablo (Ann) Alvarado of Bartlesville, OK, Xico Alvarado of McAllen, Juventino (Edelmira) Alvarado of San Juan, Diamantina Hayes of Pharr; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. A memorial mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
