McALLEN – McAllen ISD may be on an official two-week vacation for full-time paid staff, but that doesn’t mean the drama has taken a break.
Last Saturday, School Board President Sam Saldivar Jr. allegedly called Board Trustee “Danny” Vela an $#@&$%# (starts with an A) during a special board workshop to discuss local governance.
During an interview earlier this week, Vela said the workshop was also “rigged” to be a “team building session” for the benefit of the board trustees, and there should have been a “facilitator” present. Six of the seven trustees attended. Johnathan Ball was absent.
Vela said he doesn’t know the circumstances about why a facilitator wasn’t present. Salidvar served in that capacity during the workshop.
