McAllen City Manager Roy Rodriguez summed up the status of changes to McAllen's Entertainment District after the city commission meeting Monday night. City staffers will meet with property owners and those who have bars and restaurants in the district and bring recommendations back to commissioners that will be "an alternative to an absolute one way or another," he explained.
Commissioners discussed what they want the Entertainment District to be like in a 4 p.m. workshop before their regular 5 p.m. meeting and they heard from interested parties. I counted 91 chairs in the audience in the commission chambers at city hall and it was a standing room only crowd with a contingent of people wearing tee shirts reading 'Bands not bans' and 'Keep 17th St. Amplified'.
