Diane Feinstein last week introduced a bill to ban the sale of firearms to everyone on the terrorist watch list. She may personally mean well by this action, but the Democrat Party has voiced its backing of the bill based on a desire to force Republicans into a presidential campaign corner. If Republicans vote for the bill, then the Administration succeeds in getting back door gun control. If Republicans vote against it, then Democrats can attack them as weak on terror in a run up to the election. Why, you may ask, would any Republican vote against restricting a potential terrorist's access to firearms? The ban seems like a common sense precaution. Bear in mind, however, that things are seldom as simple as they seem.
