The Silly Political Season

By Tom Haughey

When I ran for Congress the liberal press often employed a tactic which they thought would cost me votes at the polls. No, I'm not talking about taking their cameras behind me to show the bald spot on the back of my head (although they did that as well). I'm referring to the way they bypassed my other work and called me "reverend" because presumably they believed voters wouldn't take a preacher seriously. As it turned out the tactic didn't work well since I still hold the modern Republican vote record (43%) for the heavily Democratic 15th District. Today I'm watching the liberal media using a similar tactic against Ben Carson. I predict that it will fail.
