Sorry, Trump and Hillary really aren’t coming to the Rio Grande Valley. I just wanted to write a headline that would get people to pick up The Advance just in case the murder story above the fold didn’t pique their interest.
With Monday’s presidential debate now in the rear-view mirror, but still on the tips of most tongues, their names immediately came to mind – Trump and Hillary.
By the way, were you one of the estimated 100 million who watched the debate?
I used to be that way. An avid presidential debate watcher. In fact, I can remember watching most of them. That was before I got smart and quit believing what politicians were promising to do if they were elected. Over time, I quit believing that they were, in fact, capable of telling the truth.
I’ve voted in many a presidential election, not to mention state elections, going back to 1976 when I was 21. After every election, let a few months pass, maybe a year, and I was always left with the thought: why did I trust them in the first place?
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
Poor W, the word-mangler, he couldn’t even get that one right.
