Mediation settlement
By G. Romero Wendorf
It only took approximately five-and-a-half hours last Thursday (probably seemed like 50 if you were there) for court-ordered mediation to facilitate a settlement between the Pharr Housing Authority and its former director, Fernando “Fernie” Lopez.
Before the settlement check can be written, however, the PHA board must first approve its terms. The board is scheduled to meet this Thursday at 5:30 inside the PHA administrative building.
Attorney Gustavo “Gus” Acevedo, one of the two attorneys representing Lopez (co-counsel is “Ric” Godinez), said he’s not at liberty to disclose the financial terms of the agreement until the PHA board votes to approve it, but he said that he and his client are “very happy” with the agreement.
