Edinburg city council approves investigation of his business dealings

Homer Jasso Jr. target of inquiry

After a 4-0 vote last week by Edinburg’s city council, there will be an official inquiry into whether or not City Councilman Homer Jasso, Jr. violated the city charter circa 2016/2017 when the city paid his tire recycling business, Santa Anita Recycling LLC, money from the city budget. Question is, when did he disclose his business ties to the company? Was it before or after he deposited the city checks into his business account? Also, by voting in favor of the city budget in the late summer of 2016, did he violate the city charter by not recusing himself from the vote because the tire-recycling work was part and parcel of the fiscal budget?
There is no question that Edinburg Councilmember Homer Jasso Jr. had a business interest in Santa Anita Recycling LLC with his step-brother, Edward “Eddie” Johnson, which did tire recycling work for the city, under that name, between approximately April 2016 and February 2017. State filings and city invoices prove it.
