For people in touch with local politics, it’s no secret that District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez’s sister, Renee “Rena” Rodriguez-Betancourt, 34, is running for the 449th State District Court against Attorney Jaime Aleman and the incumbent, Jesse Contreras. This, of course, relates to the Democratic March 1 primary election.
With regard to Contreras, his name is on the ballot, but last month he claimed he wasn’t going to run due to health reasons. But some of his signs are popping up, so who knows if he’s all in or all out.
Meanwhile, one question people are asking is, how is it going to work if the DA’s sister wins the election? On one side of her courtroom would sit the defense; on the other, prosecutors who work for her brother.
