Vela caps off an undefeated season

EDINBURG - Even when Edinburg Vela’s vaunted defense was bending, it didn’t break. In fact, it still found a way to break the other team.
In the regular season finale for both teams, Edinburg Vela claimed a 21-0 over Weslaco East, and in doing so, captured the District 31-6A crown and capped off an undefeated season.
“This was the goal all year,” said Edinburg Vela coach John Campbell. “We felt like we had a team that could do this. It wasn’t easy but the kids kept working, and we kept tweaking things.”
