PHARR – If PSJA North Senior Alissa Leija had a chance to be a sloth, she just might take it. The self-described sluggish girl says she loves not doing much and eating junk food.
She couldn’t be more wrong.
Leija, toned and physical, used her strength and vitality to place third and win a bronze medal in the 6A, 123-pound division at the state girls powerlifting meet by benching, squatting and deadlifting at total of 775 pounds. It was the cheerleader’s third straight year to make the state meet.
