Former QB Jim Kelly – more pain than one man should have to bear

By G. Romero Wendorf.

Poor Jim Kelly. His story is hard to tell, even from the outside looking in. Has life dealt many people worse hands? Probably. But it’s Kelly’s resiliency and mental toughness and spiritual faith in the face of so much pain that’s probably the most amazing part of his journey through this life. His pro football career was diamonds and rust. For example, Jim Kelly is the only player in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl four consecutive years, 1991 to ’94. He called all his own plays, but lost all four championship games. During those four losses, though, he never whined about losing. Kept his chin up the entire time. Never blamed anybody else for the losses.
