Sanctions down in gas flames

By Tom Haughey.

President Obama has been so tentative in his imposition of sanctions on Russia that one Russian leader likened it to voiding his pass to Disneyland. The Kremlin sees Obama’s actions as little more than a joke. They clearly realize, however, that at some point sanctions may be strengthened to the point where they bite. America may at some point begin supplying Europe with natural gas and cutting into Russian gas profits. That would require, however, building the pipeline from Canada to the Gulf (which the president clearly is in no hurry to do).
