I just viewed a documentary on how Hitler lost World War II and was struck by the obvious parallels between then and now. Hitler had as his initial goal regaining territories that Germany had lost at the end of World War I. He demanded “labensraum” (living space) and sought that space in small countries which had significant German populations. As he occupied those countries one by one he did so (at first at least) with a minimum of violence.
