Washington, DC has been in an uproar during the past week because of Donald Trump, Jr.’s release of a thirteen-month-old e-mail chain about a Russian government source supposedly offering information about Hillary Clifton getting illegal Russian campaign funding. That was followed in short order by the assertion of a “former Russian intelligence officer” that he was present at the resulting meeting between Trump Junior (along with Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort) and a Russian lawyer who had no dirt on Hillary and was, instead, interested in Congress reversing sanctions which had resulted in Putin banning the adoption of Russian babies by American parents. Does that sound confusing? It gets worse.

The fellow described in the US press as a former intelligence officer is described in the European press as a lobbyist who has become an American citizen. That sounds just a tad less sensationalistic than the description given in the anti-Trump US media.
