Last week I suggested utilizing the student exchange system to provide for the needs of the “unaccompanied” minors entering our country. They would stay in our schools and live with parent sponsors for a year before returning to Central America. I specifically suggested that Chicago would be a good destination for such students because the level of violence there was so high that the Hondurans, etc. would feel right at home. I’m very gratified to see that the mayor of Chicago must have been reading my column.
