Cliven Bundy has run the Bundy Ranch in Nevada his entire adult life. For the last twenty years of that life he has been in a battle with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights that his family has enjoyed since the 1800s. The BLM has declared the land on which his cattle graze to be habitat for a supposedly endangered desert tortoise and has ordered Bundy, his son, and his daughter off the land. That same BLM has in recent years been relocating said turtles from other areas in Nevada AND KILLING MANY OF THEM for budgetary reasons, so naturally the Bundies are somewhat skeptical about the BLM’s true motives.
