The Connectivity Curse

by Tom Haughey

We have all at times wished we could be in two places at the same time. Now it seems that we actually can be, but the reality doesn't quite measure up to the dream. Now, for example, we can lock and unlock our car doors from a great distance away using the latest generation smart wrist watch or our cell phone. I just saw a report that an enterprising young car thief put together a device for a few dollars that he attaches with a magnet to the bottom of target vehicles. When the car owner opens the door remotely it records the signals so the thief can use the same pattern to open the door and steal the car. So now we all need to slide under our car before we get in to be sure there's no electronic bug attached to the undercarriage.
