NELL JEANETTE “Babe” DeVRIES WARDEN

SAN JUAN - Nell Jeanette “Babe” DeVries Warden, went home to our Lord Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Babe was born and raised in San Juan, where she married Dearmon Warden in 1961, raising three children as a stay at home mom. She was well known, as her father ran a custom butcher shop, DeVries Meat market in San Juan for 50 years until 1972. Graduate of PSJA Class of 1955, Associates in Business College and worked for the Texas Department of Agriculture for 8-1/2yrs until 1964.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dearmon Warden; her parents, Joe and Nellie DeVries; three siblings, Margaret McKissack, Johanna Kayser and Jody DeVries.
Babe is survived by her three children, DeArmon Edward Warden of Brownsville, DeLayne Nell Warden of Mission, DeWayne Joe Warden of San Juan; three grandchildren, JerRome David Joe Warden of Laredo, Justin Dee Jacob Garcia of Las Vegas and Levi Edward Wayne Garcia of Laredo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, July 5, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
The family would like to extend a profound thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the MICU wing of Doctors Hospital Renaissance of Edinburg for a job well done.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
