SAN JUAN - Maria “Tila” Chavez de Saenz, 69, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Mexico, she had lived in San Juan most of her life. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Eleazar Chavez and Ramiro Garza; and two sisters, Florinda Garza and Maria Ercilia Chavez. Mrs. Saenz is survived by her husband, Juan Saenz of San Juan; three children, Sonia (Pedro) Ruiz, Tadeo Saenz, both of San Juan, Ruby (Concepcion Flores) Saenz of Alton; seven grandchildren; and seven brothers, Jose Chavez, Victoriano Chavez Jr., Juan Angel Chavez, all of Edinburg, Benito Chavez of Elsa, Elio Chavez of San Juan, Fermin Chavez of Houston, Rogelio Polanco of Brownsville. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary on Monday, August 1st at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
