ALAMO- Liz Arlene Ramirez, 46, went home to be with our Lord, Thursday, October 8, 2015, at her residence in Alamo. "Our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, and friend, Liz Arlene Ramirez, was called upon the Lord at the age of 46. With a heart of gold and loved by all, she will be dearly missed. She impacted lives of so many with her amazing personality, kind spirit, and determination. With her smiling face and positive attitude, she would light up the room. Her passion and dreams as an Occupational Therapist, was in helping those who needed rehabilitation by fostering positive encouragement; providing the best possible care with patience and compassion to help her patients maintain their activities of daily living." Liz is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jose Angel Huerta; and paternal grandparents, Herman and Guadalupe Ramirez. Liz is survived by her companion, Alicia Peña of Alamo; daughter, Arlene Mercado of McAllen; parents, Carolina and Gregorio Ramirez both of Alamo; two sisters, Cynthia (Julian) Mora of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Irene Ramirez of Edinburg; two brothers, Ricardo Ramirez of Alamo, Jaime Ramirez of Austin, TX; two nieces, Sophia and Briana; and three nephews, Brandon, Max and Diego. Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
