By G. Romero Wendorf
If you’re a regular reader of The Advance, most likely you’ve read the numerous stories written about the Jan. 28, 2015 murder of 96-year-old McAllen resident Martin “Marty” Knell since the arrest of his two alleged murderers went down last August.
Of the two people charged with his capital murder, one of the accused, Angel Mario Garza, has already confessed, according to court documents, while his accused accomplice and the alleged mastermind behind Knell’s murder by suffocation, Monica Melissa Patterson, 48, has pleaded not guilty. Her trial is set for this September. If found guilty, she faces life in prison without possibility of parole.
