JOYCE “Josie” VILLARREAL

PHARR – Joyce “Josie” Villarreal, 72, entered eternal rest Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at McAllen Heart Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Josie was employed with the PSJA Tax Office for over 20 years until she retired to spend time with her loving husband and family. She was well known by all as a caring, outgoing woman who could put a smile on anyone’s face. Josie was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by a son, Hector Villarreal Jr.; her parents, Gabriel De La Fuente and Olivia Villanueva; and two grandsons, Aaron Jay Leija and Adrian Jay Leija.

Mrs. Villarreal is survived by her husband, Hector J. Villarreal of Pharr; three daughters, Laura A. (Daniel) Zapata of Alamo, Linda M. (JJ) Leija of McAllen, Lisa A. (Eddie) Ybarra of Edinburg; seven grandchildren, Ashley Renee Arevalo, Isabella Ann Zapata, Alissa Lynn Leija, Andrew Jay Leija, Amber Lizette Ybarra, Audree Lynn Leija, Gabby Vianay Ybarra; and five siblings, Ruben De La Fuente of Chicago, IL, Helen Cavazos of Houston, Olivia Robie, Luisa Salinas, Estela Robles, all of Pharr.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ayde Sanchez for the care given to Josie for the past several years.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, July 7, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
