PHARR - Jose “Tony” Vasquez, 63, passed away Monday, April 11 at LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas -North McAllen. Born in McAllen, he had lived in Pharr since 1967. Tony dedicated his life to his beloved wife Juanita. He was a Godfather to many children. His charisma and smile will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion and Cruz Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez is survived by his wife of 37 years, Juanita Vasquez of Pharr; eight brothers, Arturo (Estella) Vasquez, Juan Manuel (Rebecca) Vasquez, Rodolfo (Martha) Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Victor Vidal Vasquez, Hector (Adriana) Vasquez, all of Pharr, Conce (Isabel) Vasquez of Houston, Luis Alonso (Hortencia) Vasquez of McAllen; three sisters, Rosario V. Olivarez of Pharr, Petra Barbosa of McAllen, Marta Noelia Vasquez of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vasquez would like to express her gratitude to Dr. Ochoa, nurses and staff of LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas -North McAllen for the care given to her husband. Visitation were held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, April 12 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.Funeral service will take place today at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Pallbearers will be Jose Arturo Barbosa Jr., Julian Olivarez Jr., Oscar Vasquez Jr., Marc Vasquez, Conrado Cepeda and Luis Rodriguez. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
