PHARR – Ernesto Esparza, 72, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. Ernesto graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1960. He attended the University of Texas Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree in 1965. His pharmacy career spanned 48 years, culminating in his retirement from Nuestra Clinica de Valle in 2012. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Cruz Esparza; and a sister, Maria Guadalupe Lopez. Ernesto is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ernestina Cantu Esparza; three daughters, Rebecca, Sylvia and Renee; his mother, Isabel Palacios Esparza; two brothers, Juan Cruz Esparza and Dr. Antonio Esparza; one sister, Sylvia Ordaz; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, May 6, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon, Wednesday, May 7, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
