EDINBURG - Ms. Dora Garcia, 74, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on May 21, 2016, at her home in Edinburg, Texas. Ms. Garcia grew up in La Blanca, Texas. She had many fond memories of growing up with her brothers and sisters traveling to other states as they were hardworking migrants. Although Dora was not married and had no children, she lived with her brother, Alejandro Garcia’s family, for many years and treated her nieces and nephew, Cynthia, Jennifer, and Alex as her own children. She was friendly, funny, and very loving to those who knew her. Ms. Garcia was a former UTPA employee and worked with former school president Dr. Miguel Nevarez and his family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Adan and Maria Concepcion Garcia, and her three siblings, Noe Garcia, Ascencion Garcia, and Danny Garcia. She is survived by her eight siblings, Fela Dutchover, Virginia Lowe, Alejandro Garcia, Rogelio Garcia, Angela Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Victor Garcia, Rey Garcia, and her numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, May 24, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
