WESLACO - Amabely Galnares, 17, passed away Monday, February 9, 2016, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Amabely was a firecracker. In that 5’1 little body, she held so much energy, passion, and life that it seemed as if she was glowing from an internal source. She was a fierce competitor, always seeking the best way to win everything that was set before her. This past Friday, Amabely did not stop running up and down the bleachers, cheering on her senior peers as they played indoor soccer at a high school pep rally. We cherish this as the last memory our school has of Amabely. She lived every moment true to who she was, fully Amabely, every second of her life. If she felt the need to speak, she did. If someone needed a hug, she gave it. Her favorite thing to do was to look at all the memories she had accrued in pictures, laughing and smiling as she recounted all of the stories she had.
Amabely was excitedly waiting on her acceptance letter to UTSA. She was so eagerly waiting all of the senior events that she had earned through her hard work, like College Signing Day, prom, and graduation. None of these events will be the same without her. Amabely is survived by her parents, Maria Isabel and Rafael Galnares; paternal grandmother, Eleuteria Galnarez; maternal grandmother, Celina Mendoza. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with a 3 p.m. prayer service and a 7 p.m. service and program Wednesday February 10, 2016, at Catedral Del Valle in Progreso. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Catedral Del Valle. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
