U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo and Pharr International Bridges seized more than $1 million in alleged cocaine, marijuana and unreported U.S. currency in three separate, unrelated incidents last week and arrested four persons in connection with these failed smuggling attempts. On Dec. 5, CBP officers working at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a 24-year-old Mexican male citizen from Reynosa driving a gray 1993 Honda Civic. The driver and vehicle were referred for a secondary inspection and it was there that officers discovered packages of alleged cocaine concealed within the Civic. Officers removed and seized eight packages weighing approximately 19.7 pounds, which carry an estimated street value of $630,000.
