How JP decided mayor’s bail
Edinburg arraignment
As most readers already know, Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina and his wife, Dalia, were arraigned two weeks ago (April 25) before the bench of Justice of the Peace Jaime “Jerry” Muñoz, Precinct 2, Place 2, on charges related to conspiracy to commit voter fraud. The charges stem from the city’s November 2017 mayoral election.
After the mayor’s arraignment, Molina issued this press release: “Fellow citizens, I’d like to take this opportunity to talk to you about the State’s decision to arrest my wife and me on allegations of voter fraud. We respectfully deny any criminal wrongdoing and look forward to defending ourselves in the proper venue; that is a courtroom. These charges will not affect my ability to perform the people’s work as your Mayor. I only ask that you respect our constitutional right to a fair trial and due process. Thank you.”
