Judges in the RGV comprise half of all those sanctioned by the state?

The headline to this story actually sounds worse than it really is. At least with regard to numbers. Because out of all the judges sanctioned by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct during fiscal year 2014, there were only eight of them. That’s the good news. The bad news is, half of them hail from the Rio Grande Valley. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct is an independent Texas state agency created by an amendment to the Texas Constitution in 1965. It’s mission: to investigate allegations of judicial misconduct or judicial disability, and then discipline the judges as seen fit.
