ROSA ELIA SERDA

McALLEN - Rosa Elia Serda lived fully and richly. A proud native of Laredo, Texas, Rosa was born to Carlos and Maria De La Luz Valle on February 14, 1955. Surrounded by her family in the home she loved, she entered rest before dawn Monday, September 10, 2018.
Her Valentine birthday was most fitting, for Rosa embraced life with love. She leaves a legacy of love in the family she built with Angel Serda over the course of 37 years of marriage. Their lives together were a long dance to the tunes of Reloj and Solamente Una Vez and many other favorites.
Their children were the world to her; Isela Rosa, her daughter and her sons, Elias and Angel, Jr. who added to Rosa’s joy with his wife, Chea, and their children, Xola Rose and Roberto Elias. Rosa shared her zest for life with them- teaching them the joys of music, dance, delicious food, travel, and loving kidness and respect for others.
Rosa’s bright and giving spirit was magnetic - she treasured and nurtured her friendships and family. Her door as was her heart - always open in warmth and welcome. The tradition of compadrazgo was one Rosa and Angel held very dear. She was a loving madrina to many. Rosa’s family was a source of joy - her parents, Carlos and Maria De La Luz Valle, her siblings, Carlos, Guadalupe, Javier, Lucha, and Gerardo, and their families. Angel’s parents, Gabriel and Coleta Serda and siblings, Gabriel Jr., Javier, Hope, Pat and their families increased her joy.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Pallbearers were Angel Serda Jr., Elias Serda, Joshua Segovia, Carlos Valle Jr., Javier Valle and Gerardo Valle. Honorary pallbearers were Antonio “Tony” Aguirre and David Garcia. We are forever grateful for the loving tender care provided by Isela her daughter and by her sisters, Guadalupe and Lucha for the last days of Rosas’s life.
