Alamo names new police chief

ALAMO -- For whatever reason, when it came time to hire a new police chief, the Alamo City Commission majority – comprised of commissioners Trino Medina, Robert De La Garza, and Pete Morales (mayor pro tem) – elected not to hire Albert Caballero who was first hired by the city back in 1991 and worked his way up the ranks from patrol officer, sergeant, and investigator. Instead, it voted to hire La Villa Police Chief Baudelio Castillo.
Alamo Mayor Diana Martinez said the hiring process was flawed and didn’t vote in favor of hiring Castillo. Joining her in opposition was City Commissioner Maria Del Pilar Garza.
