ELIAZAR MENDOZA

EDINBURG – Eliazar Mendoza, 84, went home to our Lord Saturday January 13, 2018, at his residence in Edinburg.
Mr. Mendoza was born in Rio Grande City and lived in Edinburg most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mendoza; his parents, Ernesto and Carolina Mendoza Sr.; two brothers, Ernesto Mendoza Jr. and Hector Mendoza; and a sister, Carolina Lopez.
Eliazar is survived by his two sons, Eleazar (Mari) Mendoza Jr., Eduardo Mendoza, both of Edinburg; three daughters, Evangelina Sanchez, Elda Mendoza, Elizabeth (Frank) Sanchez, all of Edinburg; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Efrain (Judy) Mendoza of Dayton, Ohio and Eloy (Lydia) Mendoza of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his early years, Eliazar had a passion of playing his guitar, fishing, and enjoyed weekend outings with his family and friends. One of his favorite daily routines was going to Whataburger for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to meet with his breakfast buddies. The family would like to thank Michelle and Whataburger staff for being a part of their dad’s life. They would also like to give special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff who took care of him, as well as to Gracia Hospice Care for the kindness and special attention that was given to their dad and the family. Also, special thanks to Letty Martinez, CNA, “you all will never be forgotten.”
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, Jan. 15, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Edinburg.
