BRIAN VELASQUEZ

PHARR – Brian Velasquez, 13, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Son of Mario and Elizabeth Velasquez, he attended Escalante Middle School in Pharr as an 8th grader. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He not only used his brilliant mind to win 1st place in a chess tournament, but also used his athleticism to compete in multiple activities which included football, soccer, basketball and track and field. Brian is survived by his parents, Mario and Elizabeth Velasquez; his brothers, Mario Jr., and Franklin Elian; and a sister, Mareli. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment followed at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
