ALAMO – Yolanda Villagomez Lopez, 76, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016, at her residence in Alamo, after a very lengthy battle with cancer. Born March 16, 1940 in Donna to Alfredo Sr. and Rosa Villagomez, Yolanda lived in Alamo all of her life and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her wonderful and caring daughter, Rosie E. Pruneda; her understanding and caring son-in-law, Xavier R. Pruneda; the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Xavier R. Pruneda II and Jessica R. Pruneda; and her two brothers, Alfredo (Oralia) Villagomez Jr. and Adolfo Villagomez, all of Alamo. Yolanda graduated from PSJA High School in 1958. She attended Pan American University and received a degree in Nursing. She was employed at McAllen Medical Center for many years and was a House Supervisor. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, Oct. 16, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
