ALAMO – Juan Gutierrez, 83, died August 17. 2016, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Born in La Laja, Mexico, he had lived in Alamo for most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Apolonia Gonzalez and Juan Gutierrez; step-father, Ignacio Gonzalez; brother, Amadeo Gutierrez; step-sister, Lupita Asoca. Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Silfida Gutierrez; two children, Juan Gutierrez, Jr., Melissa Barnett; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Jeremiah Brooks, Jinika Brianna Gutierrez, Edlee Alicia Renee Garcia. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, on August 19. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. August 20 at San Pablo United Methodist Church in Alamo. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
