July posts another record month for gun background checks

The FBI announced Monday that a new record for gun background checks had been set last month.
A total of 2,197,169 background checks for would-be gun buyers went through the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in July, compared to approximately 1.6 million in July 2015.
That’s a huge leap compared to 2008, when that number rested at only 891,224, according to a story published this week by The Guardian.
