ALAMO – Andrew “Andy” Espinoza, 38, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at McAllen Medical Center. He was born in McAllen and had lived in Alamo all of his life. Andy was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and a graduate of P.S.J.A. High School. He served as a member of the Alamo Fire Department for 20 years where he began as an explorer and was currently serving as Assistant Volunteer Chief. Andy was an active volunteer with various community organizations He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marcos Espinoza. Andy is survived by his wife, Yanel R. Leos; five children, Dominic Andres Espinoza, Biance Lenay Espinoza, Joaquin Amadeo Espinoza, Andrea Carolina Espinoza, Ethan Rodriguez; his parents, Rolando and Elizabeth “Betty” Espinoza; two brothers, Adam James (Cathy) Espinoza, Marcos Espinoza; maternal grandmother, Casta Escalante; and paternal grandmother, Enriqueta Espinoza, all of Alamo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, May 11, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Pallbearers will be the Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be childhood friends. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
